I discovered the power of a single image after spending two weeks documenting children in a coastal village in Maharashtra.

Steve McMurry once said, "Most of my photos are grounded in people, I look for the unguarded moment, the essential soul peeking out, experience etched on a person's face." Photography is beautiful because it isn't simply an attempt to capture reality-- it is a way to reshape it.

So many factors play into the effect created by an image: the subject, the setting, the point of focus, the lighting, the time of day. There is a lot to consider: Is the image telling a story? Has the subject been portrayed in not the most positive, but the most honest way? What makes this scene special?

There is much I have yet to learn about this amazing form of expression, but with every click, I take another step towards framing my own reality.
